I think I thunk a thought

16 May

Imagine my surprise when I saw *my* name on KGMom’s Thinking Blogger Awards {click}. Somedays it feels like I barely have time to think. I’m very grateful though!

Many of the blogs that I read which make me think have already been nominated, I’m sure. And others that make me think are written by people who don’t read my blog so there ya go.  Neither a follower nor a leader, be — well I’m following, to be sure, and I’m certainly not a great leader.

5 Blogs That Make Me Think

  1. Somewhere in NJ by Laura — she always makes me think.  Her incorporation of poems, quotes, and other literary inspiration is — well — inspirational.
  2. Dy/Dan by Dan — a teacher blog for a high school teacher in my local area and in my current subject area of math.  He spends a ton of time thinking himself about how he teaches, what he teaches, and how he assesses the learning of his students.  I’ve done a LOT of thinking since I started reading his blog.  Great stuff.
  3. Crafty Green Poet by Juliet —  a UK poet who crafts and is into nature.  Lots of thoughtful material here.
  4. My Whim is Law by Betsy — Betsy and I have daughters the same age.  We met on a mailing list for pregnant women due to deliver in July 1998.  We are still on that mailing list but communicate way more via blog these days.  Betsy has an older son too.  She is an excellent parent and makes me think about my own parenting.  We live very different lives but I love thinking about her life while living my own.
  5. Susan Goes Native by Susan — Susan totally makes me think.  Think about native plants in my garden.  Think about raptors.  Think about parenting.  Susan wrote one of the bravest posts on her blog that made me think a whole bunch.  I can’t find the link to it and I have to go to bed now but it was about how hard it is to be the kind of mother you want to be and how bad it makes you feel when you miss the mark.  Talk about brave.  Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt and all I can say is “I hear ya!”

If you think stopping at 5 was easy, let me assure you it was not.  I don’t have time to read mindless blogs (well . . . except for Cute Overload and that’s just got to be an exception!) so all the blogs I read make me think.  Should I post the whole list of like 60 blogs I read on various topics?  No?  I didn’t think so . . .

If you were nominated and have the time, energy, and bandwidth to participate, please name your top 5 bloggers who make you think!  Thanks!

Congratulations, you won a !

Should you choose to participate, please make sure you pass this list of rules to the blogs you are tagging. I thought it would be appropriate to include them with the meme.

The participation rules are simple:

1. If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think,
2. Link to this post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme,
3. Optional: Proudly display the ‘Thinking Blogger Award’ with a link to the post that you wrote (here is an alternative silver version if gold doesn’t fit your blog).
