Floor – check!

Greg ordered our flooring today. That’s a big step — it takes 4 weeks to come in so we want some lead time on it. I know that my husband is thinking that we’ll have the kitchen nearly done by the time it arrives. I’m not so sure — there is a lot of work to do first.

The last time we remodeled a kitchen we were newlyweds. It was a much bigger job than this. We had to tear everything out of the kitchen down to the studs, we moved walls, put in posts, and put in a staircase. It was a major reno. We did it all on the cheap but I think it turned out well. It was ready to be re-done again when we moved out 13 years later.

That was nearly 20 years ago. I am still somewhat daunted by the prospect of a kitchen remodel especially with children in the house. Doing dishes in the bathtub lost its charm way back then but now . . . yikes! I can’t even begin to express my dismay at the thought of what this will do to our lives.

And yet, I’m game. I want the kitchen done and I’m excited about the prospect of it. So, we’re starting the leap!

Vicki asked for “before” shots. I’ll try to get up the nerve to provide some. Sigh. It’s such an ugly kitchen.
