A Cinderella Gift . . . but I’m happy about it!

7 Mar

What’s a Cinderella gift? Maybe it’s just my family that calls them that — a Cinderella gift is a useful gift. A practical gift. A “but you’ll have a much easier time cleaning the inside of the fireplace now” kind of a gift. But, sometimes, a Cinderella gift is a winner.

My husband picked a winner. Of course he’s done it before — how many of you have a lime green chain saw? That’s what I mean — it’s a girlie chain saw too — he is a little bit embarrassed to use it.

I have my own robot now — and it does the floors!

Isn’t it cute? That’s the promo pic from their website (click on the pic, you know you want to!). It vacuums the floor, scrubs it, and then squeegees it dry. Seriously. How amazing is that?

With the kitchen remodel, we’ll have those gorgeous bamboo floors and Greg knows I hate mopping floors so see why it’s the perfect Cinderella gift? He’s so clever! Plus, he knows how I loves me some technology!

Since our floors aren’t done, I haven’t tried it out yet — although I guess I could (should!) give it a go in the kids’ bathroom — but I knew that YouTube wouldn’t let me down. So try this to see one in action. And, here with most appropriate music. This one cracked me up for various reasons — if only the Dad giving the commentary to the pre-verbal child. There were others featuring animals riding on Scoobas or barking at Scoobas* but I just think that’s ridiculous (as if the Scooba won’t be making an appearance in a Ruby Tuesday edition someday!)

So, I think I have now achieved uber-nerd status with a robot that does my chores for me. Just call me Mrs. Jetson.

*This one is incrediably annoying. You have been warned.

LOL Liza! A Cinderella gift indeed, but anything that makes life easier is a lovely gift. Can’t wait to hear about it in action.

That is the coolest little gadget. I’ve never heard of a “cinderella gift” but now I will never forget it!
