Do you see the tiny eye? Do you see the yellow gape of the bill?
I can feel a new obsession coming on. But, I don’t want to stress the mom and dad. They weren’t around when I first came out but they often hide in the wisteria branches so I can’t see them. I went out later to try to get more pics and one of them was there and it flew off, quite upset. It’s such a bad spot to get pictures. I can’t get close and all the wisteria leaves make it hard to focus on the babies.
Gee, I wonder if that’s why they chose it? 🙂
LOL… indeed, a great place to discourage visitors!
I know exactly what you mean–sneaking around a nest, trying to get a glimpse, hoping you don’t freak the parents!
Since I was away, I missed the Ruby Tuesday squirrel episode. We have lots of squirrels here, which Ruby is most welcome to, all except Alex (my personal squirrel). However, all the squirrels are now acting like “my personal” ones, since I have been putting peanuts out.
Love the Stellar jay photo–they are gorgeous birds. Good luck observing from afar!
Love that little baby jay’s eye. It’s hard to strike the balance between observation that’s close enough to really see what’s going on, and far enough so mom and dad aren’t stressed. My sister-in-law scared a young-ish baby dove right out of its nest last year. I wish you luck, and I know you’ll find the right spot.
It’s so hard not to want to watch them so closely. You know the balance.
Babies! Oh, my. Lucky you. And the color on their parents. WOWZERS. I like that blue. 😀
LOL! Probably that’s why they chose it, because they know you have an audience waiting to see!
It is so fun watching the mama raise the babies!
