Challenge yourself to succeed
Reach deep within; muster the courage
To just jump off the high dive
She hasn’t succeeded in jumping off yet. We are setting mini-goals. The first was to stop hiding and simply walk up the ladder and walk back down again. That was easily achieved. Next, she was to walk out to the end of the board and walk back again. She did it. Goals met. I do not want her to jump yet — I want to see her walk out there with confidence. We’re not seeing that yet. I know she’ll jump. She knows she’ll jump. She just has to make it happen.
Watching your mind work so hard
Twisting and turning every problem
My heart is proud of your intellect
My girl is smart and her brain and body can be at odds. Her body knows that high dive is high but that it will be fun. Her brain has started to realize what can happen if you fall. She is battling herself and I know she’ll win. She is so strong and amazing in her technicolor polka dots. You go girl!

I love the expression on her face. It says, “I am this close to jumping, but I think I’ll make you wait a bit longer.” :c)
I agree with Jayne–the face expression says it all!
She is a braver soul than I. Even though I know how to swim, I have NEVER learned how to dive. I have tried, and I just DON’T like it–drives the water up my nose and gives me a headache. Hate it!
A good challenge for the summer. Will she start by jumping in from the new height, or diving? She’s almost ready.
She’s taking diving lessons so there are lots of challenges and goals for this summer. The teacher wants her to jump off first and then she’ll work up to a roll-in dive and then a regular dive. Since she’s only taking a 2 week class and we’re half way through. We’re hoping she jumps off by the end of the week. She’s also working on jumping off the low board backwards! Another challenge. Watching her work through these challenges intellectually is amazing. She’s always been a dare devil but she’s becoming more cautious. Fascinating.
Oh yeah. I remember that… being scared of the high dive.
😉
Love the pic, btw!
this is an interesting, gorgeous photo, with the blue reflections. And a beautiful child. Snap a picture of her triumph.
