Winter Skies

Winter Sky

For weeks, my skies have looked like this: crisp and blue.  The weather has been warm.  Nearly freezing at night and then nearing 70 during the day.  Fall weather, not winter.  Wednesday, it started raining again. Today, it’s pouring.  The weather maps are showing rain through the weekend.

We are all grateful here.  By this time in a normal year, our annual rainfall would be much higher than th 13.74 inches that one local weather station is reporting.  Last year we had a storm in January that gave us 7.09 inches all itself.  All this is to say that the rain is very, very welcome.  We drove by one of the local reservoirs yesterday and I have never seen it so low.

Let it rain!  Let it rain!  Let it rain!

I’d be so happy if we’d get a good soaker. We don’t get as much rain at the coast as you do in the mountains. I’ve been reading in local papers how water rationing is looming this summer. So yes, let it rain, let it rain.

So, when I hear the Mamas and the Papas on my I-pod singing “California Dreaming” I shouldn’t think that means blue skies and lots of sun.
I agree about being happy when it rains–where would we be without rain.

Without rain. It’s ok for me, especially for the week end.
Branches keep your blue Sky above you. Make the most of it.

KGMom, we get all our rain in the Winter. It is very rare for us to get rain in the summer — our summer moisture is fog. But California Dreamin’ is still accurate in that even with all the rain, we get lots of gorgeous winter days, too.

Sandy, I think that’s one of the birch tree in my front yard.
