My 131st Life Bird – Great-tailed Grackle

Great-tailed Grackle

Great-tailed Grackle (Quiscalus mexicanus)

I utterly fell in love with these noisy birds.  Used, as I am, to the sound of Ravens and Crows, the whistling, rattling calls of these birds was engaging.  They were all around the campground at San Simeon.  I thoroughly enjoyed hearing them all weekend.

Good heavens. These birds are *everywhere* where I work — when I get down to the plaza level, they’re all fighting over the food scraps and crumbs that people leave at lunch…

Yup. They are common for you but we don’t have them this far north! 🙂 One man’s trash is another man’s treasure!
