I walked out on my deck this afternoon, enjoying the sunshine and the cool air being stirred up by the creek. There was a pair of ducks in our creek. While that isn’t unusual, they were (oh boy, I’m going to say it) odd ducks.
Just look at them.
One is a Merganser and one is … Well, I’d have to say there is some Merganser in there along with some Mallard, I guess and probably some plain old white domestic duck.
Ah well, Spring is for lovers and I’m not one to judge!
There’s some duck for every duck!
Love it, Jo!
Ha ha–some duck in every duck indeed.
I am still puzzling over “manky”–new term to me.
On the blog, 10,000 Birds, Charlie has posted pictures of lots of “manky” mallards . . . they are a bit promiscuous and will breed with all sorts of other ducks it seems. Here’s a link . . .
looks like male and female merganser
Sheesh! You’re right, Christine. Now I feel like a doofus. I’ve only seem female mergansers, it seems. I’ve never seen a male before. Doi! It looked like such a conglomeration that I didn’t even look it up. Sigh.
love spring luv.
