The birds lift off
take flight
soar into the air
into the air? onto the air?
It lifts them, does it not?
It lifts them and holds them as they spiral through it,
cutting, and swirling, and turning.
It lifts them and moves them
forward, backward, and around.
It lifts them and they soar.
Does it groan under their weight? The air, I mean.
Does it wish they would walk on the ground?
Take a train? Rent a boat?
Does it find their feathers weighty? Too much to bear?
When they all take flight at once and share the air?
Oh, so lovely, Liza. The photo and the poem. Well done.
Thanks, Wende. I’m so glad you like it.
LOVE IT
