Apache Plume, a desert wildflower in the rose family
I am kinder and gentler
when we travel.
My world narrows down to a smaller place
which confuses as we are driving into new vistas
each day.
I am kinder and gentler
when we travel.
200 square feet that flies down the road
is a world I can manage
I am kinder and gentler
when we travel.
Clear in vision.
Focused ahead.
I am kinder and gentler when we travel.

Head down and throbbing, I walked briskly along a quiet path
A long day behind me, thoughts full of woulda-coulda-shoulda
From behind and just above me, I heard a rustle-rustle-rustle
Turning, quickly, I saw him.
Dressed to impress and as he hid, he chirruped a quiet song.
And, just like that, my headache was gone.
Sometimes everyone gets melancholy.
(Even if usually one is one who sees the positive in everything and annoys everyone with it)
Sometimes everyone feels a little lost.
Sometimes everyone feels a little separate.
Sometimes everyone feels a little distant and alone.
Sometimes everyone needs a little salt air, a little glimmer of sunset on the water, and a little sea spray
crashing on the rocks all night to renew the spirit and the soul.
